Charity Festival 2025: Social Service Through Unity and Cooperation

 

Ludhiana: The 'Daan Utsav-2025' campaign concluded on Saturday. As many as 1,20,000 clothes, 6,000 toys, 5,000 pairs of shoes, 3,000 bed sheets, 2,000 utensils and 4,000 appliances were collected in the campaign. Along with this, groceries and e-waste were also collected. Mayor Inderjit Kaur appreciated the campaign and felicitated the participating NGOs and citizens. Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, filmmaker Gur Amanat Singh and actors Jarnail Singh and Kuljinder Singh Sidhu were also felicitated. NGOs like Marshall Aid Foundation and Ek Noor Seva Kendra – Neki Ki Rasoi participated in the programme. The blood donation camp was organised by Rehras Seva Society.

This 'Dan Utsav' was not just about collecting items, but also promoted the concept of 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' (RRR). The initiative is linked to the Government of India's Mission LiFE, a sustainable waste management initiative. Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon said, "This initiative is in line with the Mission LiFE launched by the Government of India, which encourages citizens to manage their waste." Manit Diwan of CityNeeds and Harleen Kaur of Act Humane also emphasized this. The help of various NGOs will be taken to reach the needy with the collected items. The collected e-waste will be given to recycling companies and the money earned will be donated to these NGOs. Mayor Kaur appreciated the sustainability approach of this initiative. She appealed to the citizens to continue helping the needy. She said that such initiatives show the spirit of community participation, compassion and sustainability.

Citizens participated in this 'Dan Utsav-2025' in large numbers. They donated clothes, toys, shoes, bed sheets, utensils and appliances. These items will be delivered to the needy. An effort was also made to protect the environment by properly managing e-waste. This initiative helped the needy people of the society and also protected the environment. This initiative truly became a symbol of community participation and compassion.
