Lucknow–Varanasi Highway: Traveling between Lucknow and Varanasi is set to become much faster and easier. This is because the central and state governments are jointly preparing to build a six-lane highway connecting the two cities at a cost of approximately ₹9,500 crore. Upon completion, this project will reduce the travel time from Lucknow to Kashi to just two and a half to three hours.
Complete in two years
According to reports, the Yogi government and the central government have taken a major step to further improve road connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. The governments have approved the construction of a six-lane highway from Lucknow to Varanasi via Jaunpur. This highway will connect the UP capital to major religious and commercial centers in Purvanchal. The project will cost approximately ₹9,500 crore and is targeted for completion within two years.
Six-lane highway to be built
According to reports, it currently takes approximately 5 to 6 hours to travel from Lucknow to Varanasi. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) officials say that once the new six-lane highway is constructed, this journey will be completed in just two and a half to three hours. This will provide significant relief to ordinary travelers, traders, and pilgrims.
Where will the new highway be built?
It is reported that the new highway will begin in Lucknow, connecting Amethi via Sultanpur, and then Jaunpur to Varanasi. This route will not only be religiously significant but will also play a vital role in the economic development of Purvanchal.
Farmers will receive ₹3,500 crore
If reports are to be believed, the total cost of this project is estimated to be ₹9,500 crore. Of this, approximately ₹3,500 crore will be spent on land acquisition, while approximately ₹6,000 crore will be spent on highway construction.
