Premium Bus Service : Delhi Chief Minister Approves 'Premium Bus Service', Will Be Equipped With These Special Facilities

Delhi NEWS : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday approved a 'Premium Bus Aggregator' scheme, as a result of which Delhiites will soon be able to book seats in air-conditioned luxury buses through their smartphones.

Addressing a press conference here, Kejriwal said that the file will be approved by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Has been sent to Saxena. “This scheme will be implemented within 90 days of approval by the Lieutenant Governor,” he said. He claimed that Delhi will be the first city in the country to launch a premium bus aggregator scheme.

Many facilities are available
Kejriwal said, “When the metro train service started in Delhi, many people stopped using scooters and started traveling by metro, but when the crowd in the metro increased, they started using their vehicles again. Lower middle class people travel by bus. But with this scheme (premium bus service), people from the upper middle class will also opt for public transport.
He said that under this scheme, the company (aggregators) getting the license will have to run air-conditioned buses with at least nine seats. He said, “Standing travel in the bus will not be allowed and payment will be done digitally. The aggregator will have to have at least 25 buses in its fleet.
From January 1, 2025, all the buses included in the fleet should be electric. Kejriwal said that the routes of these buses will be decided on the basis of demand and the concerned company will have to inform the Transport Department about this. He said, “Their fares will be dynamic (fare increases as the number of available seats decreases) and will not be less than the maximum fare of an air-conditioned bus of Delhi Transport Department (DTC).”

What is Premium Bus Aggregator Scheme?
Under the Premium Bus Service Scheme, license will be given to aggregators of premium luxury buses. An aggregator will have to keep at least 25 luxury buses. All buses will have AC facility. All buses will have more than 9 seats. Traveling in standing form will not be allowed in the bus. Seats will be available in digital mode and payment will also be made in digital mode only. The buses will be equipped with GPS and WiFi. It will run on time and reach on time.
Route and fare will be decided by the market
CNG bus should not be more than 3 years old. After January 1, 2025, only electric buses can be installed under this scheme. There will be no license fee for electric bus. So that electric buses can be promoted in the capital. The government will not decide the bus route, but the market will decide. The government will only have to provide information. The fare will also be decided by the market, but will be higher than DTC so that there is no competition with DTC.
