Why does the cold wave continue?

The Meteorological Department said that 'jet stream winds' of 130-140 knots are blowing in the plains of North India at 12.6 km above sea level. According to IMD, due to this seasonal change, cold days and cold waves are increasing in North India. The jet stream is likely to continue at similar intensity over the next 3-4 days.

Where is the severe cold alert?

According to the Meteorological Department bulletin, the minimum temperature is 2-5 degrees Celsius in North Rajasthan and South Haryana. While Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, most parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh have 6-10 degrees Celsius. "It is 2-4 degrees Celsius below normal in isolated areas of South Haryana, South Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan," the IMD said. The lowest temperature on Friday was 2.4 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was in Bikaner, West Rajasthan. , and was in Kanpur, eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Snowy winds will trouble Punjab and Bihar

The Meteorological Department said that dense fog conditions may persist in many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh till Saturday morning. Also, dense fog may persist in some parts for a few hours at night and in the morning and for the next four days. Dense fog and cold wave conditions are likely to persist in some parts of Uttar Pradesh for a few hours on Friday and Sunday morning. And dense fog conditions are likely to persist at various places during the night and morning for the next three days. The same will happen in some parts of Bihar by January 24, and by Sunday in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
