States will have to identify

States/ULBs are responsible for identifying eligible street vendors and receiving new applications under the scheme. But the ministry is taking several measures to increase the number of beneficiaries. This includes regular review meetings with States, Union Territories, ULBs and loan providing institutions, radio jingles and advertisements in newspapers.

Loan worth Rs 9790 crore was distributed

The government told the House recently that loans worth Rs 9,790 crore have been given so far to beneficiaries of the PM Street Vendors Self-Reliant Fund (PM SVANidhi) programme. Loans worth Rs 2,039 crore were given to PM Swanidhi beneficiaries in the year 2020–2021, Rs 1,248 crore in the year 2022–2022, Rs 1,866 crore in the year 2022–2023 and Rs 4,637 crore till December 5 of the year 2023–2024. A total of Rs 9,790 crore has been distributed. As of December 5, 2023, loans had been given to 56,58,744 street vendor beneficiaries from the scheme.
