Satara Crime: Police take major action in Satara doctor girl case; PSI Gopal Badane gets life imprisonment

Satara: Suspended Sub-Inspector Gopal Balasaheb Badne, who was arrested in the case of the suicide of a young doctor at Phaltan Sub-District Hospital, has been dismissed from the police department. This order has been issued by Special Inspector General of Police of Kolhapur range Sunil Phulari. A young doctor at Phaltan Sub-District Hospital committed suicide on October 23. The young woman had written a suicide note on her palm. The young woman had mentioned that Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne had raped her four times and Prashant Bankar had tortured her physically and mentally. This incident had created a huge stir in the entire state.

The family of the deceased young woman has alleged that the doctor was being pressured by the police to show the accused arrested by the police as 'fit-unfit' and to change the autopsy reports of the dead. The main suspect in this case, Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne, was earlier suspended. Now he has been permanently removed from the police service.

Satar Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi gave information in this regard. He said that Gopal Balasaheb Badne, the accused in the crime of Gu. R. No. 345/2025 registered at Phaltan City Police Station, despite having knowledge of the police force, recklessly committed moral degradation, misconduct and misuse of his position. He also behaved in a way that created a feeling of insecurity in the society. His actions were unbecoming of the post of Police Sub-Inspector. He behaved suspiciously in the performance of his duties and in his daily life. His actions are extremely disgusting and condemnable. Therefore, he expressed the opinion that it is not appropriate to keep Gopal Balasaheb Badne in government service.

Meanwhile, suspended Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Balasaheb Badne (who was posted at Phaltan Rural Police Station) has been 'dismissed from government service' with effect from November 4, 2025, under Article 311 (2) (b) of the Constitution of India, 1950, by Special Inspector General of Police, Kolhapur Range, Sunil Phulari.
