ODI WC 2023: Ben Stokes's Big Statement About Playing in World Cup 2023 Came Out

Yuva Patrkaar, New Delhi : All-rounder Ben Stokes, who played a key role in England's World Cup triumph in 2019, has confirmed. That he will not participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Stokes announced that he has retired from the ODI format. And will now only be available for Test and T20 cricket.
The decision comes ahead of the fifth Ashes Test. With England trailing 1-2 and Stokes insisting he will take a long break after this match. While there were discussions about his retirement, the final decision was left to Stokes, as indicated by England white-ball team head coach Matthew Mott and captain Jos Buttler.
Addressing the press, Stokes said, "I have retired. I am going on a long break after this series and that is what is going to happen as far as I am concerned. He also hoped to resolve his knee problem and captain the England team in the next Ashes series, announced for the summer of 2025-26.

Looking at the ongoing Ashes series, Stokes expressed hope of the team performing and doing better in Australia in the future. He is very excited about the next Ashes series in 2025. And they aim for another win. Stokes said, “Hopefully it will be good to go to Australia in 2025 and have a good chance to win. It would be nice to say that I have won it twice. Obviously, a lot of cricket is played around the Ashes as well. But we will see what happens in 2025."
With Stokes unavailable for the upcoming ODI World Cup, the England team will have to look at other options to defend their title in India. However, Stokes' presence in Test and T20 formats will continue to be a vital asset to the team in other cricketing events.
