Central Govt Employees DA Hike Update : Central employees and pensioners who have been waiting for increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief from the month of July are going to get relief. In fact. DA increase can be announced in the Union Cabinet meeting to be held on September 18. It is estimated that the government may increase DA by 3%, after which the total DA will increase to 45 percent. If this happens, the amount received in salary and pension will increase.
To fight inflation, the central government increases dearness allowance from time to time. It is usually revised twice a year in January and July. This time the announcement of increase and payment in DA for July has been delayed. But, DA increase is likely to be announced on September 18.
DA calculations for central government employees are based on the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). There is a fixed formula for calculating dearness allowance of central government employees and pensioners, under which it is estimated that this time the government will increase DA by 3%. The new rate of DA will be applicable from July.
Dearness allowance expected to increase to 45%
Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of All India Railway Men's Federation, told PTI that the increase in dearness allowance will be a little more than three percentage points. Thus, there is a possibility of 3 percent DA increase, after which the total DA will increase to 45%. At present, central government employees and pensioners get 42 percent dearness allowance.

How much salary will increase due to DA increase?
DA is calculated as a part of the basic salary of central government employees. Therefore, when DA increases, the salary of central government employees increases. For example, a central government employee gets a basic salary of Rs 36,500 per month. According to 42% DA on basic salary, it comes to Rs 15,330. If DA increases by 3% from July 2023, then the DA amount of the employees will increase by Rs 1,095. In this way the total DA amount will increase to Rs 16,425. Since DA will be effective from July 1, 2023, after its payment, they will also get arrears of 3 months. Arrears will be received for July, August and September.
