Himachal Pradesh High Court has taken strong cognizance of not giving the benefits of Sixth Pay Commission to retired employees. And has sought a reply from the state government within 4 weeks.
Himachal Pradesh High Court Judge Jyotsna Rewal Dua has issued a notice to the Secretary of the State Finance and Education Department as well as the Accountant General of the state, seeking answers regarding not giving the benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission to retired employees. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for October 16.

In fact, the state government has not yet given the benefit of the Sixth Pay Commission to retired teachers. Angered by this, the teachers and employees had filed a petition in the court pleading for justice, the hearing on which was held on Saturday. The employees' advocate has informed the High Court through the petition. That on 25 February 2022, the state government had amended the pension rules.
It was further stated in the petition that under the amendment, the limit of gratuity for employees retiring after January 1, 2016 was increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, on September 17, 2022, the government issued an office memorandum making installments to provide financial benefits, according to which A provision was made to pay the outstanding amount of financial benefits in five installments, which is wrong.
Employees asked for financial benefits from January 2022
Arguments have been given in the petition. That they are also entitled to the outstanding amount under the revised pay scale. The provision of giving their financial benefits in installments is completely wrong. It is their constitutional right to receive retirement benefits. In such a situation, they should also be given financial benefits under the revised pay scale from January 3, 2022. He alleged that the employees who retired between January 1, 2016 and January 31, 2022. Financial benefits will be given in five installments to those who have retired after March 1, 2022. They are being paid the arrears of all the benefits together.
