LPG Price Cut : Domestic LPG Cylinder Became Cheaper By Rs 200, Central Govt Gave Big Relief

LPG Cylinder Price: The central government has given a big relief to the people troubled by inflation. The government has cut the domestic cooking gas cylinder (LPG Price) by up to Rs 200. The government has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 on domestic LPG cylinders. This subsidy will be given to the beneficiaries coming under Ujjwala scheme. On the first of August, petroleum companies had cut the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 100. However, there was no change in the prices of Domestic Gas Cylinder.
Current prices of LPG On the first date of August, the price of Domestic LPG Cylinder in the capital Delhi was Rs 1103. Whereas, the price of LPG cylinder was Rs 1102.50 in Mumbai, Rs 1129 in Kolkata and Rs 1118.50 in Chennai. Petroleum companies revise LPG prices on the first of every month.

Decision taken in the cabinet meeting: According to the government, LPG cylinder prices will be cheaper by Rs 200 under the Ujjwala scheme. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The Central Government had made it clear last year itself that only the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme would get the benefit of subsidy on cooking gas. No one else will be given subsidy on cooking gas cylinders. Under the Ujjwala scheme, the government was already giving a subsidy of Rs 200. Now it will get an additional subsidy of Rs 200.

Subsidy on 12 LPG cylinders
Beneficiaries can avail subsidy on a total of 12 Cooking Gas Cylinders in a year under Ujjwala scheme. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme was started in the year 2016. Under this, the government provides free cooking gas connections to families below the poverty line (BPL). To get subsidy, you have to link your Aadhaar number with LPG connection. Your Aadhaar must be linked to a gas connection to avail the subsidy. A subsidy of Rs 200 is available on a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder. According to government data till March 2023, the government had distributed over 9 crore free cooking gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme. Petroleum companies fix the prices of 14 kg domestic and 19 kg commercial gas cylinders on the first of every month.
