RBI News: Only 88% of Rs 2000 Notes Reached RBI, Notes Worth Rs 42000 Crore Missing

Giving information, RBI said that till May 2023, a total of Rs 3.56 lakh crore notes of Rs 2000 were in circulation. A total of 88% of the Rs 2000 notes have returned to the banking system by July 31, 2023, after Rs 2000 notes were out of circulation. If seen in this way, till July 31, a total of 2000 notes worth Rs 3.14 lakh crore have been returned to the banks. The last date for depositing 2000 notes in banks or getting them exchanged has been fixed as 30 September 2023.

Exchange of 13 percent notes
