Haryana Electricity Department News: The crisis surrounding the jobs of 28 Lower Division Clerk (LDC) employees working in the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has now been averted. The state government has decided to retain these employees in their current positions, and they will neither be removed from their jobs nor required to rejoin. This comes as a great relief to these employees, who have been serving in the electricity department for the past six years and were distressed by the sudden termination orders.

This dispute is related to the 2016 recruitment process, in which a total of 964 LDC posts were advertised under advertisement number 03/2016, category number three. The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) first released the final results on June 8, 2019, after which these employees joined their jobs. However, on January 6, 2020, the selection commission issued a revised result, which removed several previously selected candidates from the list, thus triggering the dispute.

In this case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court delivered a crucial judgment on May 29, 2024, ordering that all candidates selected in the initial result be accommodated in the vacant positions out of the total 964 posts in this recruitment. However, the electricity department officials misinterpreted the High Court's order and issued orders to terminate these 28 employees and have them rejoin afresh.

In the event of rejoining, these employees would have lost their six years of experience, allowances, and benefits, creating uncertainty about their future and that of their families. To resolve this issue, the affected employees wrote letters to Haryana's Power Minister Anil Vij and the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rajesh Khullar, appealing for justice. Following their appeal, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has withdrawn its previous order and clarified that all concerned employees will continue to work in their previous positions under the same terms and conditions as before.
