Chandigarh Metro Train: Punjabis are happy. The alternative test report for building a metro line in Chandigarh, Punjab has been approved. Detail project report is now the goal. The first phase will start in 2027 if the detailed project report is also approved.

There will be four lines

Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RAIS) is planning to build the first line of Chandigarh Metro line from New Chandigarh to Panchkula. So the second line will go from Zirakpur Bus Stand to Rock Garden; The third line will go to Mohali International Airport; And the fourth line will go from Grain Market Chowk to Transport Light Sector 26.

The central government will bear 40% of the entire expense.

The estimated cost of Chandigarh Metro line will be Rs 13,000 crore. The central government will give 60%, while Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab will give 40%. Funds have been given to Haryana and Punjab for preparing DPR.

In the third phase, a 63.5 km long metro line will be built, while in the first phase, a 91 km long metro line will be built. A total of 154.5 km metro will be laid in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

The metro lines of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula will try their best to cover the largest part of the three cities. The alternative assessment report was given three months ago.
