Delhi Metro New Line: A New Line of Delhi Metro Will Soon Connect Ghaziabad & Noida
Delhi Metro New Line Update: Noida and Ghaziabad residents are happy. Now there will be connectivity between the two nearby cities through roads and metro lines. This will eliminate the problem of getting stuck in traffic to go to office every day. In fact, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and Uttar Pradesh Housing Board (UPHB) have decided to build a metro line between Noida and Ghaziabad.
This new metro line will be an extension of the existing Blue Line of Delhi Metro, which will end at Noida Electronic City and reach Sahibabad. Thousands of people coming from Mohannagar to Noida every day will benefit from this and the traffic jam will also end. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started the work of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of this route.
GDA and Housing Board will jointly provide funds
The last station of this new metro line will be the existing rapid rail station in Sahibabad. With this, the rapid railway track will also connect Noida directly to the metro line. At present, the Blue Line of Delhi Metro is divided into two separate tracks from Yamuna Bank station.

One track reaches Noida Electronic City. While the other track ends in Vaishali, Ghaziabad. There is also a plan to connect the Vaishali track with the rapid rail track in Anand Vihar, Delhi. People coming by Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail will be able to easily reach different parts of Delhi. Promoting Rapid Rail will also reduce the traffic burden on the roads of Delhi.
Funding hampers planning
For a long time, the plan to connect Noida-Ghaziabad with a metro line is incomplete. The Central govt was to bear 20% of the cost of the scheme and the Uttar Pradesh govt was to bear 50%. The GDA, Housing Board and Municipal Corporation were to spend the additional 30%, but the Uttar Pradesh govt canceled the plan. Now the Housing Board and GDA have agreed on the new funding pattern in a meeting.

Estimated cost of expenditure Rs 1,517 crore
GDA vice-chairman RK Singh said the expansion of the metro line will cost around Rs 1,517 crore. However, the full expenditure will be known only after receiving the new DPR from DMRC. RK Singh, who was also the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, said that the equal distribution of expenses between GDA and Housing Board is absolutely right. He said that Indirapuram (GDA) and Vasundhara (Housing Board) will cross this corridor. Therefore, both the agencies should spend equal amount.
