5,709 theft cases have been reported

Last year, 5,709 cases of theft were reported across all metro stations. In which 2,407 cases were registered and 599 people were arrested. In these cases, 113 vehicles were stolen. Of these cases, 96 cases were disposed of. Additionally, out of 22 molestation cases, 21 were disposed of and action was taken against 24 people.

DCP Metro, Ram Gopal Nayak, however, expects a change in conditions at the metro station going forward. He said that hotspots are being identified. And action is being taken there. 25 SHOs were ordered to identify these stations and classify the crimes accordingly. He said that by dividing such categories it becomes easier to take action or identify such places.

He said that criminals travel from such stations where there is less crowd. After this they go to more crowded places. Men and women commit crimes in gang groups. Gang members lure their victims to the target. These gangs often steal cash or jewelery while boarding and deboarding the metro.
