Delhi Metro: DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has once again started the process to hand over the responsibility of operating the metro on Delhi Metro's oldest corridor Red Line (Rithala-Shaheed Sthal New Bus Stand Ghaziabad) to private hands.

Along with this, the tender process has also been started to hand over the responsibility of operating the metro on the Green Line (Kirti Nagar-Indralok-Bahadurgarh) to private hands. Recently DMRC has taken initiative to implement this system on Violet Line (Kashmiri Gate-Ballabhgarh) also.

In such a situation, this year the command of metro operations on 159.72 km network of four corridors of Delhi will go into the hands of private agencies.

At present, the responsibility of operating the metro only on the Yellow Line is in the hands of a private agency. Three months ago, last October, DMRC had started the tender process to hand over the responsibility of operating the Red Line to a private agency, but due to technical reasons, DMRC had stopped it. Now on January 2, DMRC has started the metro operation on this corridor. Re-tender has been issued to hand over the responsibility to private hands.

Agency will appoint 221 drivers for Red Line

Under this, DMRC will give the responsibility of operating the metro on Red and Green Lines to a private agency for six years. After completion of the tender process, the private agency will appoint 221 drivers, seven train superintendents and one train manager for the Red Line.

Whereas, 143 drivers, seven train superintendents and one train management will be appointed in the Green Line Metro. DMRC will train these employees. There is hope after this. That the employees appointed by the private agency till October-November this year

Will take over the responsibility of operating the metro on both these corridors. DMRC will spend around Rs 65 crore on this project. On the Violet Line too, a private agency will take over the responsibility of operations in September.
