Haryana Electric Bus: Haryana Government Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal today announced the state's action plan for the year 2024-25 to reduce air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. The scheme focuses on the inclusion of electric, CNG and BS-VI diesel buses in the state's bus fleet.

He said that in compliance with the instructions issued by the Commission for air quality management in NCR, LB, PWD, HSVP, NHAI and HSIDC have constituted Dust Control and Management Cells (18 numbers). And nodal officers have been appointed. HSPCB has developed a web portal to register construction projects on plot area of more than 500 square meters in NCR. And runs it. He said that many mechanical sweeping machines are running in NCR. Automotive Research Association Pune has been given the task to investigate the carbon emissions and pollution levels in some cities of Haryana such as Gurugram, Panipat and Sonipat. Apart from this, tenders have already been issued for five additional districts (Rewari, Jhajjar, Jind, Rohtak and Charkhi Dadri). For whom plans have also been made. E-buses will run in Gurugram and Faridabad

Shri Kaushal informed that State Transport Haryana has finalized the procurement of 375.12 meter e-buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model. Which will be run in nine municipal corporation cities of the state. His promise was that all 375 e-buses would be covered by June.

Mr Kaushal also mentioned the procurement of 100 e-buses from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), which were rolled out to cover Gurugram and Faridabad. The target is to include all 200 e-buses by December 2024. During the current financial year, State Transport Haryana plans to add 500 new standard BS-VI diesel buses and 150 HVAC BS-VI diesel buses meeting the latest BS-VI emission norms. He said that all these proposed new buses will be included in the bus fleet by November 2024.

He stressed that all depots in Haryana will run only BS-VI standard buses for Delhi. All BS-III standard buses will be phased out from NCR depots before October. All government buses running in Delhi and surrounding cities like Faridabad, Gurugram and Sonipat will be shifted to non-NCR depots having BS-IV standards. This process will be completed by October. They will be provided with BS-VI compliant diesel buses, enhancing the environmental sustainability of the fleet. Currently around 1030 BS-III standard diesel buses are running in Haryana. Of which around 500 buses serve the NCR depot. Mr Kaushal said that by October 2024, all 500 BS-III buses will be certified and phased out from the NCR depot.
