Haryana News: Clerks End Strike in Haryana, Know What Was Agreed Upon
Clerk Protest News: Clerks in Haryana have called off their strike after 42 days. In a meeting of office bearers of the association with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar late last night, the clerks agreed to call off the strike.
In the meeting, a proposal was made by the government to give 21700 pay scale, but the association rejected it. After a long discussion, it was decided to form a four to five member committee consisting of two retired IAS officers. This committee will discuss all the demands of the clerks within three months.
The committee will submit report to govt
The committee will prepare its report and submit it to the government, after which talks will take place. Till then the statewide clerks' strike will remain suspended. The government has also decided to pay back wages to all clerks during the strike.
Government imposed ESMA
Five rounds of meetings have been held so far to persuade the striking clerks. However, the government had invoked the ESMA (Haryana Essential Services Maintenance Act) before the late night meeting. Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal had on Saturday issued an order to impose ESMA on the striking employees, but the government has now withdrawn it.
Clerk Protest started from July 5
More than 15,000 clerks of the state went on strike from July 5 under the banner of Clerks Association in Haryana. The government had already imposed no-work, no-pay rule on the striking employees. The government had also imposed ESMA to break the strike.

ESMA has a provision of six months imprisonment
If an employee goes on strike. So it is illegal and punishable. and shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months. Any employee violating the law can be arrested without warrant. ESMA is granted for a maximum period of six months. Government level meetings were held on July 13, July 21, July 26 and August
