He bought a four-wheeler to help his farmer father, but it went wrong. The son, burdened with debt, took an extreme step
Buldhana: Currently, the wrath of nature seems to be following the farmers like a puja on their fifth birthday every year. In the meantime, a young farmer's son, who started a passenger transport business along with farming to help his elderly father, ended his life after getting caught in the trap of debt. This incident is expressing shock among the young generation who are coming forward to do farming as a sideline.
The incident of suicide of Vitthal Motiram Tupkar (age 30) from Gunj in Buldhana district came to light on the morning of November 1. He had left home at night. When his father Motiram Tupkar went to the field to look for him in the morning, Vitthal was found hanging from a lemon tree.
No vehicle in hand despite paying the money
Last year, Vitthal had taken a bank loan and used his own savings to buy a four-wheeler from a person in Nandurbar district. However, the original owner did not pay the loan to the finance company, and despite paying the full amount, the vehicle was not registered in his name. The finance company was repeatedly coming to Vitthal to recover the loan and was threatening to tow the vehicle.
Under this pressure, Vitthal himself paid Rs. 2 lakh to the company. However, the original owner from Nandurbar was reluctant to pay the remaining amount to the finance company and was not completing the vehicle transfer process. When Vitthal realized that he had been cheated, he also filed a complaint at the Sakharkheda police station.
Mental stress could not be tolerated
Thanedar Gajanan Karewad contacted the original vehicle owner and asked him to settle the matter, but even after that the owner did not pay the money or appear at the police station. Finally, the family said that Vitthal committed suicide due to this mental stress. Vitthal was driving a passenger vehicle on the Sambhajinagar-Sakharkheda route. After the post-mortem examination, he was cremated in a mournful atmosphere at Gunj on November 1. He is survived by his mother, father, a son, a daughter and a brother.
