This year, private agencies will take over the operation of Metro on 159.72 km network in Delhi. Currently, only the Yellow Line is operated by a private agency. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had started the tender process three months ago to transfer the operation of the Red Line to a private agency, but it was stopped due to technical reasons.

On January 2, DMRC has reopened the tender to hand over the operations of the Red and Green Lines of the Metro to a private agency for a period of six years. Once the tender process is over, the chosen agency will appoint 221 drivers, seven train superintendents and one train manager exclusively for the Red Line.
