Old City Metro Project Will Speed Up Dwarka Expressway

Gurugram: The plan to expand metro in Old Gurugram is now going to come to fruition. On February 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Gurugram Metro extension through virtual medium from Rewari itself. This metro project will connect new and old Gurugram (Cyber City and Millennium City). It will also connect Dwarka Expressway to Metro.

This metro expansion plan will improve the connectivity between the two ends of the city. Along with this, Delhi will also become closer to the city through this scheme and Dwarka Expressway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present on Friday, February 16 to lay the foundation stone of AIIMS at Bhalkhi Majra in Rewari. During this time, the foundation stone of the new metro route (Millennium City Center to Cyber City) approved in Gurugram will also be laid through virtual medium. This program will be broadcast live in the district. Administrative officials are busy preparing for this. Although this project was announced a year ago. No work has yet started on the ground for this. Now after the virtual foundation stone laying ceremony by PM Modi, officials are praising the pace of this project.

State Chief Principal Secretary RS Khullar and all the administrative officers of the district have started monitoring the district level preparations for this program. A total of 27 metro stations will be built in this 28.50 km length metro expansion project at a cost of Rs 5452.72 crore in a total of four years. There will be about 24 stations on the metro route from Millennium City Center to Cyber Park 148 including Sector 45, Subhash Chowk, Hero-Honda Chowk, Sector 37, Sector 10, Basai, Sector 4, Rejangla Chowk, Palam Vihar, Sector 23. Apart from this, a metro depot will be built near Basai. Another metro station will be built near Sector 101. This station will connect Dwarka Expressway to this metro route.

On average, one metro station will be built every km

For the proposed metro expansion project for the old city, preparations are being made to build a metro station on an average of every km. A total of 27 stations will be built within a radius of 28.5 km. In such a situation, keeping in mind the convenience and needs of the passengers, there will be a station at every important place. With this, people will also be able to choose metro for traveling in the inner areas of the city. However, this project will take an average of four years to complete.

Haryana Metro Rail Corporation formed for metro

For the expansion of metro in the old city, the state government has formed Haryana Metro Rail Corporation (HMRC) on the lines of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of this project this week. After this the corporation will start speeding up the entire project.

Dwarka Expressway not formally inaugurated yet

On one hand, the government is showing the dream of metro expansion being completed in the next four years. On the other hand, no formal announcement has been made to dedicate the completed Dwarka Expressway to the public. People are continuously demanding to start this expressway. Recently, Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit had met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and demanded to start this route.
