Meerut Metro: For your information, the first picture of Meerut Metro Rail has been revealed. Alstom, a multinational metro train manufacturer, has handed over the first indigenously made train set to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) for the Meerut Metro project. Alstom said the contract involves the supply of 210 coaches for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) operated under NCRTC. Alstom signed this contract in 2020.

Meerut Metro is an urban mass rapid transit system (MRTS). Which will run on the 25 km long section of Line-1, which is 14.80 km high. And 4.6 km is underground. 11 stations will connect Partapur to Modipuram.

Alstom India Managing Director Oliver Loison said the Meerut Metro project is a step forward in the country's ambition to modernize inter-state and intra-state rail travel. And the company is happy to make its products realize this vision.

What is RRTS?

Passengers will get the facilities of overhead luggage rack, Wi-Fi, mobile charging and laptop charging on every seat in RRTS trains running between Meerut and Delhi. Once the RRTS corridor is fully operational, the road travel time between Delhi and Meerut will be reduced to about five to five minutes from the current three to four hours. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut highway (82.15 km) is expected to be operational by June 2025, ET reported. The speed of this metro train is 120 km/hour.
