UP Weather: Cold wave occurred in many states of the country at the end of the year. The temperature dropped in many states due to cold winds. The drop in temperature also resulted in chill during the day. Trains and flights were also delayed in many states due to dense fog. Rajasthan has experienced the worst from the cold. The lowest temperature in Mount Abu, the only hill tourist destination in the state, was zero.

On Sunday, there was a chill in the day due to drop in maximum temperature and cold wind in the eastern and western regions of Rajasthan. In the last 24 hours, the Meteorological Department has recorded a drop in maximum temperature in some parts of Eastern and Western Rajasthan. The lowest temperature in Mount Abu, the state's only hill tourist destination, was zero degrees Celsius, the department said. The Meteorological Department said that heavy fog may continue in the state for the next 3-4 days.
Temperature below freezing point in valley
The minimum temperature in the valley on Sunday remained several degrees below the freezing point, due to which Kashmir remained in the grip of cold wave. Officials said the minimum temperature in Srinagar last night was minus 2.8 degrees Celsius to minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, where the annual Amarnath Yatra is the base camp. The minimum temperature was minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, 4.1 degrees Celsius higher than the previous night, officials said. On Sunday, the Meteorological Center (IMD) said that the weather will be generally cloudy and dry till January 5, 2024.

Dense fog prevails in Punjab-Haryana
Day temperatures dropped sharply at many places in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, while dense fog remained prevalent in both the states since morning, affecting normal life. The Punjab government has decided to change the timings of private schools from January 1 in view of the cold and foggy weather. As of January 14, the new timings will be in effect from 10 am to 3 pm. Met department officials said fog has reduced visibility at most places in both the states and their common capital Chandigarh.

Severe cold in Jharkhand
There was severe cold in Dhanbad district of the state on the last day of the year. Ranchi Meteorological Center said that it will be cold on New Year also. Dhanbad will experience cold on Monday, where the minimum temperature will be 10 degrees. There will be light fog in the morning. Light sunshine will emerge from the clouds during the day. When evening falls, the cold will also increase. The weather will change in Jharkhand from January 2. After Makar Sankranti, cold will reduce in Dhanbad. Dhanbad will see ups and downs of cold for the next 15 days.

No relief from cold in Bihar

Cold increased in Uttar Pradesh
