On which the country's 49th Vande Bharat train will run. This is the country's first Vande Bharat train. In which there are eight coaches. Electricity will run this 272 kilometer long road. Railways has also completed a 15 km trial run between Banihal and Khari railway stations in Ramban district.
Important update from Railway Minister
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given an important update regarding this link. He said that the entire route will be ready by January 2024, due to which Vande Bharat train will start running from Jammu to Srinagar. The Railway Minister has also conducted a trial on the world's highest railway bridge built on this route. A factory has been built in Budgam to repair these trains. And engineers are being given specific training.
travel time will be halved
At present the only way to go from Jammu to Srinagar is by road. It takes six to seven hours to cover the distance of approximately 250 kilometres. And in winter it sometimes gets closed due to snow falling. Once the railway route is built, its distance will be 272 km, but the travel time will be only 3.5 hours. That means it will take half the time from today.

This railway will be counted among the most unique train journeys in the country. This is the biggest reason. That the train will cross about 38 tunnels in the entire route. The length of one of these tunnels (T-49) is 12.75 km. Which is the biggest tunnel of the country. Not only this, there will be 927 bridges on the route, which will total 13 km.
