Wheather Update: Cold wave continues from plains to mountains. The minimum temperature in many states including Delhi, Punjab and Haryana was 2 degrees. The temperature in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan is 6 to 10 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department said that at present there will be no respite from the cold. Apart from this, estimates for the next five days have also been released. Light to moderate rain is likely at some places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India on January 19, the weather department said.

Alert issued regarding cold wave

Cold wave alert will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till January 19. Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail in some areas at night and morning till January 22. There may be heavy fog in some parts of Uttar Pradesh on 19th. There is an alert of dense fog in Sikkim, Jharkhand and West Bengal till January 19. There is a possibility of cold wave across the country from January 19 to January 21. It is a matter of relief that the minimum temperature in Eastern India may increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next three days and there will be no major change after that.

Snowfall in Himachal areas

Chanshal, Narkanda and Hatu Peak in Shimla district and other higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received light snowfall on Wednesday evening. Shimla Meteorological Department said that there may be snowfall in these high altitude areas even today. Winter rains are likely over eastern parts of the country (West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha) on January 19, 2024. The rains may end the prolonged dry spell in northern Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. Rain will reduce significantly or may even stop in the next 3-4 days. But there is a possibility of rain again early next week.

It may rain in these states today

Skymet Weather said that on January 19, light to moderate rain may occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim and parts of Northeast India. Hailstorm may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim. Light rain may occur over southern Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dense to very dense fog may occur in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in the morning and night.

Cold days may continue in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Minimum temperatures may increase in the next two days in eastern and northern India.
