The fitment factor was last increased in 2016, taking the minimum basic pay of employees from Rs 6,000 to Rs 18,000. The increase in fitment factor could take the minimum basic pay to Rs 26,000. The current minimum salary of Rs 18,000 will be Rs 26,000. That means, the basic salary will increase by at least Rs 8,000.
dearness allowance will increase
Dearness allowance will also increase if the basic pay increases from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. Dearness allowance is 46 percent of the basic salary. DA is calculated by multiplying the DA rate by the basic pay. Dearness allowance will automatically increase because the basic salary will increase.
