C-295 Transport Aircraft : India Got its First C-295 Aircraft, Know What is its Specialty
C-295 Transport Aircraft : Airbus Defense and Space Company on Wednesday handed over the first C295 transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF). With the aim of modernizing the Indian Air Force, the government had signed a deal with 'Airbus Defense and Space Company' two years ago to buy 56 C295 transport aircraft for Rs 21,935 crore.
Indian Air Force Chief V.R. at an event organized in Seville city of Spain on Wednesday. Chaudhary was handed over this aircraft to the production plant of Airbus Company. Under the agreement, Airbus will supply 16 C295 aircraft in 'fly-away' condition from its production plant in the city of Seville by 2025.
The remaining 40 aircraft will then be manufactured and assembled in India by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) as part of an industrial partnership between the two companies. In October last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of a manufacturing facility for 295 aircraft in Vadodara. This will be the first military aircraft to be manufactured in India by a private consortium.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is purchasing C295 aircraft to replace its fleet of aging Avro-748 aircraft that entered service six decades ago. C295 is considered a better aircraft. Which is used for tactical transportation of 71 soldiers or 50 paratroopers.
Apart from this, it is used to deliver military equipment and supplies to those places. Where existing heavy aircraft cannot be reached. C295 aircraft can be very useful for landing soldiers and dropping goods with the help of parachute. It can also be used to evacuate accident victims and sick people.
The aircraft is capable of carrying out special operations as well as patrolling operations in disaster situations and coastal areas. After the signing of this agreement last year, Airbus said that under the C295 programme, the company will bring world-class aircraft manufacturing and maintenance facilities to India in collaboration with its industrial partners.

The first C295 aircraft manufactured for India successfully completed its maiden flight in Seville in May. The second aircraft is in the final stages of construction at the Seville production plant. And it is scheduled to be handed over to the Indian Air Force in May next year.
Six pilots and 20 technicians of the Indian Air Force have already undergone extensive training at the Seville facility. The manufacturing and production plant for the C295 aircraft in Vadodara is scheduled to become operational in November next year. Officials said the Indian Air Force will be the world's largest operator of the C295 aircraft.
