A mild earthquake jolted Visakhapatnam in the early hours of the morning. This created panic among the citizens. The earthquake was felt at around 4.20 am. The epicentre of the earthquake is believed to be near G. Madugula village in Alluri Sitaram Raju district. This caused tremors to be felt in many parts of Visakhapatnam.

People in areas like Murali Nagar, Gajuwaka, Madhurwada, MVP Colony and Gopalpatnam felt the tremors. They came out of their homes in panic. According to initial reports, the magnitude of the earthquake in G. Madugula was 3.7 on the Richter scale. Officials said that the earthquake was of low intensity. There was no loss of life or damage to property. However, citizens have been advised to remain alert as a precaution.
