News UP: The process of implementing the Lift and Escalator Act is underway in Uttar Pradesh. State Energy Minister AK Sharma informed this to the government on Friday. The statement came in the wake of demands for a law to regulate the installation, maintenance and use of lifts, especially in high-rise buildings, in the state.

Pankaj Singh, MLA from Noida, and Dhirendra Singh, MLA from Jewar in Greater Noida, are both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs. And the district is a resident of Gautam Budh Nagar. Both the MLAs have raised this issue vigorously with the Yogi Adityanath government. Sharma said in a statement, “With increasing urbanization and increasing number of high-rise buildings in the state, the use of elevators is on the rise.

With regard to the installation of lifts and escalators in multi-storeyed buildings, the process of implementing the Lift and Escalator Act is on.”
