Womens Reservation Bill 2023 : The Women's Reservation Bill, which provides for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Assembly, has been approved by President Draupadi Murmu on Friday. After which now it has become a law.
Let us tell you that this bill was introduced in the Parliament under the name of ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Bill’. This bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 20 September and in the Rajya Sabha on 21 September. After that it was sent to the President for approval. After implementation of this law, women will get 33 percent reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
The bill was presented in the special session of Parliament
The government had recently called a special session of Parliament from 18 to 22 September. During this period two historic things happened. Firstly, the work was shifted from the old Parliament building to the new Parliament building and secondly, the Women's Reservation Bill was passed by both the Houses.

Got majority from both parties
The government had introduced the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha on September 19 in the name of Nari Shakti Vandan Act Bill. Most parties supported this bill. On September 20, 454 votes were cast in favor of this bill in the Lok Sabha and two votes were cast against it. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with two-thirds majority.
After this, the bill was presented in the Rajya Sabha the very next day on 21 September, where 214 votes were cast in its favor and not a single vote was cast against it.
The most transformative revolution of time : President Murmu
When the bill was passed by Parliament, President Draupadi Murmu had said that it would be the most transformative revolution of our times for gender justice. After implementation of this law, women will get 33 percent reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
This bill will give new energy to the women power of the country : Prime Minister Modi
Speaking before voting in Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, women power is not getting special respect only through the bill. Positive thinking of all political parties towards this bill will give new energy to the women power of our country. She said that women leadership is the guarantee of a bright future.
