Asian Games 2023 : India's Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS, who were celebrating their birthday, lost to the Chinese pair in the final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event of the Asian Games and had to be content with the silver medal. India has won 19 medals including 6 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze in shooting in these games.

22-year-old Sarabjot, who scored 9.9 on the last shot, said, “I was a little nervous. There was too much pressure. I practiced belly breathing before and after the match.”

‘I enjoyed from the first to the last shot’

Divya said, “We performed well. I am happy with my performance in the finals. I had fun from the first to the last shot.” Divya, who won the silver medal in the women's 10 meter air pistol team event, said, “Next year is the Paris Olympics. And I am trying my best to qualify. We have good coaches. Whom I want to thank.”

In qualification, Sarabjot scored 291 while Divya's score was 286. The total score of both was 577 and they were one point ahead of China in the qualification but the Chinese pair won in the final. On the first day of trap competition, Keenan Chenai is in second place by scoring 73 out of 75.

Zorawar Singh Sandhu finished sixth

In the qualification of men's individual trap event, Zorawar Singh Sandhu finished sixth by scoring 72 in three rounds of 25.25 shots. India's Prithviraj Tondaiman stood 19th with 70 points. The Indian trio is in second place with a total of 215 points, two points behind Kuwait.

Two more rounds of 25.25 shots will be played on Sunday to determine the team medal winners. The shooters who finished in the top 6 positions in the qualification will make it to the finals.

In women's individual trap, Preeti Silver stood sixth, Manisha Keer stood 12th and Rajeshwari Kumari stood 16th. Due to Rajeshwari's poor performance, India slipped to fourth place in the team category.
