Asian Games 2023 : Sathiyan-Batra, Harmeet-Sreeja Pair in Pre-Quarterfinals of Table Tennis Mixed Doubles
Asian Games 2023 : India's pair of G Sathiyan and Manika Batra entered the pre-quarterfinals of the table tennis mixed doubles event of the Asian Games on Wednesday.
Won despite a bad start
Sathiyan and Batra defeated Thailand's Napat Thanmathikom and Suthasini Sawetabut 10-12, 11-8, 11-3, 11-8. Later, Harmeet Desai along with Sreeja Akula defeated Macau's Chi Cheng Cheong and Hui Li Sik 12-10, 11-7, 11-7 to reach the last 16 stage.
Sathiyan-Batra made a poor start and recovered from a game down to win 3-1. Harmeet and Sreeja faced a challenge in the first game but easily entered the next round with a 3-0 win.
In the men's doubles event, Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah overcame the difficulties to defeat Thailand's Napat Thanmathikom and Sittisak Noochchart 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10.

Women's hockey team also defeated Singapore
Indian women's hockey team defeated Singapore 13-0 in its first match of Pool A at the Asian Games, riding on the brilliant performance of its players including a hat-trick by young striker Sangeeta Kumari. India scored 8 goals in the first two quarters and 5 goals in the last two quarters.
India, ranked 7th in the world rankings, was facing the 34th ranked team in the Pool A match. For the Indian team, which finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics, Sangeeta scored 3 goals (23rd, 53rd, 47th minute) while Navneet Kaur scored two consecutive goals in the 14th minute.
Deepika, Sushila Chanu, Udita, Neha, Deep Grace Ikka, Salima Tete, Vandana Kataria and Monica scored goals. The Singapore team could not even attack the Indian goal. India now has to play Malaysia on 29 September.
