Only 69 cars were sold in 31 days! Yet they raised the price of this car!
In April 2025, French carmaker Citroen announced a price hike for its C3 Aircross model. Some variants saw an increase of up to ₹13,000. This change has resulted in a price hike of up to 1.53% across different configurations of the vehicle. The update is being rolled out across petrol-manual and petrol-automatic editions. The specific changes vary depending on the Aircross variant and seat capacity.
Analyzing the new pricing structure, the 1.2L petrol-manual variant of the C3 Aircross has been increased from ₹849,000 to ₹862,000. This is an increase of the mentioned 1.53%. On the other hand, some models like the Plus variant of the same engine variant have not seen any price change. It continues to be priced at ₹999,000. The price hike for these selected variants has had various implications across the model range.
The turbocharged variants of the Aircross have also undergone a price change. For example, the price of the 1.2L turbo petrol-manual Plus 5-seater has been increased from ₹12,11,300 to ₹12,15,300. This shows a lesser increase of 0.33%. Similar price hikes have been brought in for other turbo variants. The price hike is also being brought in for the 5 and 7-seater setups. The price has been increased by 0.30% to 0.39%, including the Max and Dual Tone models.
For those who prefer the automatic variant, Citroen has also revised the prices of the 1.2L turbo petrol-automatic variants. For example, the Plus 5-seater variant has seen an increase of ₹4,000, bringing its new price to ₹13,45,300, an increase of 0.30%. The Max 5-seater and its dual-tone edition, along with the 7-seater variant, all have similar percentage increases.
Citroen’s decision to increase prices in early 2025 is in line with the industry’s usual practice of increasing prices to reflect market dynamics, production costs and other economic factors. While some variants have seen significant increases, others have remained unchanged. The Aircross line-up has adopted a price revision approach rather than resorting to outright price hikes.
Citroën’s C3 Aircross sold just 69 units in the 31 days since its launch in March. That’s the total price hike across all variants combined. However, the company has now increased prices on these models.
Since the price hike is not significant, it is unlikely to have a significant impact on sales of the car. It is now clear that the company has managed to correct its profit and loss accounts by revising its prices.
Citroen's price revision for the C3 Aircross model in April 2025 offers a sophisticated approach to pricing. It reflects a combination of market planning and economic needs, with the increase being a maximum of ₹13,000. This price hike is only available on a few models. Despite the lower price hike, the brand has done this by keeping an eye on the competition in the market rather than generally using price hikes across all variants.
