The Honda Activa EV will be based on a dedicated platform (Platform E) which will be used for many upcoming electric models with multiple battery architectures and installations. The Japanese two-wheeler maker has already filed patents for EV technology including fixed batteries, motors, controllers, chargers, etc. These patents indicate that the new Honda electric scooter will have a fixed battery under the floorboard and a hub motor on the rear wheel.

Company will set up dedicated 'e' factory in Narasapura facility

Apart from the Activa EV, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) will introduce a new EV, which is likely to come with swappable batteries. The two-wheeler manufacturer had revealed its plans to set up battery swapping stations at 6,000 of its touchpoints across the country. With an aim to meet the demand for its electric vehicles, Honda is setting up a new dedicated Factory 'E' at its Narasapura facility in Karnataka. This plant will produce 1 million units by 2030. Honda will make battery and power control unit components for its upcoming electric vehicles. In other new updates, HMSI has also inaugurated its new engine assembly line at the Global Resource Factory at Manesar in Gurugram, Haryana.
