The Manpower Ministry said in a statement that five survivors of the accident were taken to the hospital, who were later discharged from the hospital. The ministry has compensated the families of each deceased with 200,000 Egyptian pounds (about $6,466) and each injured person with 20,000 Egyptian pounds (about $646). Local media reported that the daily wage laborers were traveling by boat to work at a local construction company when the accident occurred. He said it took hours for rescue workers to find the bodies. The incident took place in Monshat-al-Kanater city of Giza. Giza is one of the three provinces of Greater Cairo.
