Punganur Cow : World's Smallest Cow Breed, Gives 3 Liters of Milk Daily, Know Details

This breed of Punganur cow has been developed in South India which is said to be the smallest cow in the world. Punganur, the world's smallest cow, is on the verge of extinction. Punganur cow breed is being improved on a large scale in Andhra Pradesh.
A Vaidya in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh has improved the Punganur cow breed after 14 years of hard work. He has developed two and a half feet tall Punganur cow. This cow has been named Miniature Punganur. The height of a Punganur cow is generally between 3 to 5 feet while the height of the Miniature Punganur is up to two and a half feet. By developing this breed developed after breed improvement, Krishnam Raju runs a cow shelter and is taking Punganur cow to the people of different areas of the country.
When the world's smallest cow, Punganur, is born, its height ranges from 16 to 22 inches. The breed of Miniature Punganur has been developed in such a way that its height is 7 inches to 12 inches. Punganur is a 112 year old breed of cow while miniature Punganur has been developed in the year 2019.
The real Punganur was born in the Vedic period during the time of Vishisht and Vishwamitra sage. With climate change and change of place, the height of the Pungnur cow increased. Earlier the height of Punganur was 2.5 to 3 feet which is called Brahma breed. Doctors said that currently only 32 breeds of cows are left in the entire country whereas in ancient times there were 302 breeds of cows.
Dr. Krishnam Raju said that currently the height of Punganur cow is three to five feet, he has reduced it to two-two and a half feet. He has done artificial insemination by taking semen of bull of Punganur breed from Livestock Research Station of Andhra Pradesh. After many years of efforts, Dr. Raju has succeeded in producing a cow up to 2 feet tall by taking the semen of the smallest bull born from it and artificially inseminating it into a Punganur cow.
The smallest miniature Punganur cow developed on 17 December 2019 is 2.5 feet in height. The doctor has told that this Punganur cow can give up to 3 liters of milk daily. So that more and more people can keep Punganur cow at home, a small breed of Punganur cow has been developed.
The rate of miniature Punganur currently ranges from ₹ 1 to ₹ 5,00,000, but Dr. Raju has not sold the cow to anyone, rather he is giving it away for free. Interesting fact is that many foreign people are asking for miniature Punganur cow from Dr. Krishnam Raju, but Dr. Raju has not given this cow to any foreigner till now.
A Punganur miniature cow requires up to 5 kg of fodder for daily consumption and 3 liters of milk can be obtained from it daily. Dr. Krishnam Raju is teaching cow rearing through Miniature Punganur to those people of the country who do not want to rear cows due to lack of space or fodder.
