Bullet Train: Big Update Regarding Country's First Bullet Train, Land Acquisition Completed, Now This Work Left

 

Bullet Train: Land acquisition work in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Rail Corridor (MHRC) has been 100 percent completed. National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) gave this information on Monday. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Rail Corridor is also known as the Bullet Train Project. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, while sharing information about land acquisition on 'X', said that 1389.49 hectares of land required for the project has been acquired.

Track bed laying work started

A high speed rail line is being constructed between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. NHSRCL said in a release that all contracts for the project had been awarded to Gujarat and Maharashtra while 120.4 km of girders have been laid. And poles have been installed for 271 kilometers. According to the release, work on laying reinforced concrete (RC) track bed used in Japanese Shinkansen for the MHRC corridor track system has also started in Surat and Anand. This is the first time. When J-slab ballastless track system is being used in India.

Bridges were constructed in these districts

NHSRCL said that in just 10 months, the construction of the first 'mountain tunnel' of 12.6 meter diameter and 350 meter length has been completed near Jaroli village in Valsad district of Gujarat. According to the release, the first steel bridge measuring 70 meters long and weighing 673 metric tons has been built on the National Highway in Surat district of Gujarat. Also, construction of 16 out of 28 such bridges is in various stages. The construction work of bridges on six out of 24 rivers on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail corridor has been completed. Which include Par (Valsad district), Purna (Navsari district), Mindhola (Navsari district), Ambika (Navsari district), Auranga (Valsad district) and Venganiya (Navsari district).

India's first rail tunnel

The release said that work is going on on Narmada, Tapti, Mahi and Sabarmati rivers. According to the release, work on India's first seven kilometer long undersea rail tunnel has started. This tunnel is part of a 21 km long tunnel between Bandra Kurla Complex and Shilphata in Maharashtra. And excavation work for the construction of Mumbai HSR station has also started.

When will the bullet train run?

NHSRCL said HSR stations at Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati in Gujarat are in various stages of construction. According to the release, this Rs 1.10 lakh crore project was expected to be completed by 2022 but faced many hurdles regarding land acquisition. The government aims to launch the first phase of the bullet train between Surat and Bilimora in South Gujarat by 2026.
