Delhi Metro: From Sunday, Delhi Metro will run at higher speed on the Airport Express Line. From September 16, the speed of trains in this corridor will be 120 km/h. Airport Express Metro will be the fastest among any metro network in the country. For the first time, trains on the Airport Express Metro Corridor will run at the speed for which it was designed. In such a situation, passengers will be able to reach Airport Terminal T-3 from New Delhi by Airport Express Metro in just 15 minutes.
Extended in June also
In June, train speeds on the Airport Express Line were increased from 100 to 110 km/h. On June 22, after getting approval from Metro Rail Safety, the change in the speed of trains came into effect. Despite this, Delhi Metro was the fastest metro system in India. 18 months ago, Delhi Metro had set a target of increasing the speed of Airport Metro to 120 km/h.

DMRC worked through the night
To implement this speed, advice has been taken from DMRC engineers and other government agencies. DMRC said more than 2.6 lakh tension clamps have been replaced across the corridor to facilitate train movement. Metro work was carried out from 11 pm to 7 am, so that there was no hindrance in the work. Principal Executive Director of Delhi Metro, Anuj Dayal said that the target was set to run the metro at a speed of 120 km per hour in 18 months. But DMRC saw it as a challenge and completed the target within six months.
