India Smart City Conclave : UP 3rd in Best State Award, Agra 3rd Smartest City in The Country
Yuva Patrkaar : Uttar Pradesh has been selected among the top three states of the country in terms of best smart city. Apart from this, Agra has become the third best smart city in the country. Uttar Pradesh has received 10 awards in various categories in the two-day India Smart City Conclave 2023 organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at the Brilliant Convention Center in Indore (MP).
During the award distribution ceremony at the conclave on Wednesday, President Draupadi Murmu awarded UP for coming third in the best state category. Whereas in the North Zone, Varanasi has been awarded the number one position in the best smart city. Other cities of the state have also been awarded in different categories at the ceremony. Last year, a contest was organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in various categories among 100 smart cities of the country. On behalf of the state government, Principal Secretary Urban Development Department Amrit Abhijat and Smart City Mission Director Dharmendra Pratap Singh received the award.
Let us tell you that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the work of making smart cities as well as safe cities is also in progress in all the municipal corporations. These include Integrated Command and Control Centre, various IT components, CCTV etc. and the process of providing necessary facilities and services for women, elderly, disabled and children is underway. The results of these efforts are also visible on the ground. In the ranking of smart cities, two cities of the state (Agra and Varanasi) are continuously included in the first 10 cities and three cities (Agra, Varanasi and Kanpur) are included in the first 20 cities.
Which city of UP got the award in which category?
- – Uttar Pradesh ranked third in the category of best state
- – Third position in the entire country by Agra Smart City in the National Smart City Award category.
- In the City Award category, Varanasi Smart City got first place among the smart cities of North Zone with a population of more than 10 lakh.
- – Kanpur got third place in the Build Environment category of the Project Award for the modernization and development work of Palika Sports Stadium.
- – Lucknow got third place for employment training center work in economy category.
- – Third place in ICCC Sustainable Model category for income generation and reduction in carbon emissions through centralized command and control center by Agra Smart City.
- – Agra got second place in the Social Aspect category for the upgradation work of Smart Health Center and Municipal School.
- – Second place in water category by Agra Smart City for 24×7 water supply work by Smart Water Meter and SCADA in ABD area.
- – Third place in the Covid Innovation Award category by Agra for various innovative works during Covid-19.
Projects worth more than 9 thousand crores
Under the Smart City Mission, 10 cities of the state include Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Saharanpur and Varanasi. A total of 670 projects of smart roads, smart parking, parks and water bodies along with better civic amenities like sanitation, water supply, street lighting, sewerage etc. are proposed in these cities at a cost of Rs 9313.45 crore. So far 456 projects worth Rs 5889.14 crore have been completed. While 214 works are in progress at a cost of Rs 3424.31 crore. In this also, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi and Jhansi of the state have received the full amount. Whereas Lucknow, Bareilly, Prayagraj and Aligarh are to receive only the last installment amount.
