Metro Full Speed Big Update: Delhi Metro Express line will operate at high speed from Sunday. From September 16, the speed of trains on this corridor will be increased to 120 km/hour. Airport Express Metro will be the fastest metro network in the country.

In the beginning of June this year, the speed of trains on the Aeroexpress line was increased from 100 to 110 km per hour. After approval from Metro Rail Safety, the change in train speeds was implemented from June 22. Thus, Delhi Metro has maintained its position as the fastest metro system in India. 18 months ago, Delhi Metro had set a target of increasing the speed of the Airport Metro to a maximum speed of 120 kmph.

This speed will be implemented after consultation with DMRC engineers, other government agencies and experts. According to DMRC, more than 2.6 million tension clamps have been replaced on the corridor to facilitate train movement. To ensure that metro service is not disrupted, most of the work was done from 23:00 to 7:00. Delhi Metro CEO Anuj Dayal said that they have set a target of running the metro at a speed of 120 km per hour within 18 months. However, DMRC took it as a challenge and achieved the target within 6 months.

How much time will it take now?

According to DMRC, the journey from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 will now be completed in about 21 minutes. However, the estimated travel time between New Delhi and Terminal 3 of the airport is approximately 15 minutes 30 seconds. Earlier, passengers used to take more than 18 minutes to travel on this route.
