The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has given approval to the RGI office to use the Aadhaar database to authenticate identity details provided during registration of births and deaths.

Guidelines issued by MEITY should be followed

In 2020, the MEITY notified rules, stating that the central government may permit Aadhaar authentication by requesting entities to encourage good governance, save public money and ease of living. As per the norms, ministries or state governments desirous of using Aadhaar authentication will make a proposal to justify such authentication and submit it to the central government with reference to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
