Bundelkhand Highway: Yogi government has planned to make Bundelkhand Expressway the first solar energy expressway of UP. The government aims to build a solar power plant along the Bundelkhand Expressway under the PPP model. Due to which 550 MW solar energy will be produced.

The government has given 1700 hectares of land on Bundelkhand Expressway for this purpose. Various large companies have expressed their desire to join the project. The project when completed can light 100,000 houses connected to the expressway every day. The duration of the project is twenty to twelve years. And the payback period is ten to twelve years.

Currently, the project is being implemented by Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The RFP to select developers for the project is also being finalized.

The expressway project under construction will act as a foundation for future e-mobility and development and will meet the energy requirements. The project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, generate much green energy and contribute to reducing the rate of climate change.

Apart from this, UPEIDA will greatly benefit by making Bundelkhand Expressway a solar expressway. UPEIDA can also get Rs 4 crore from lease rent. Sale of produced energy can yield a profit of Rs 50 crore per year. Installation of solar plants on Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Agra-Lucknow and Gorakhpur Expressways can give UPEIDA an annual benefit of Rs 60 million on energy consumption.
