Drought situation persists in the area. Wheat, pea and apple crops are suffering losses due to snowfall and lack of rain. Whereas farmers are not able to plant new crops.

In view of the severe cold, the Punjab government has ordered all schools up to class 10 to remain closed till January 14. The lowest temperature in Bhiwani, Haryana was 6.7 degrees. Whereas in Ambala, Narnaul, Hisar and Karnal the temperature was 7 to 9 degrees. The lowest temperature in Sikar, Rajasthan was 2.0 degrees.

The lowest temperature in Banihal, Jammu state was 2.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Katra remained 6 degrees at night. Whereas Srinagar is already very cold. Saturday night was the coldest night of this season, with a minimum of 5.6 degrees Celsius. Due to cold, people's daily activities have reduced. The Indian Meteorological Department said that a new western disturbance will be visible over northwest India from Monday.
