Metro Rail: Approval For Metro Rail Connectivity Between Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula
Metro Rail: Work has started on the plan to connect Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula with Metro Rail. The meeting of the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTTA) has approved the analysis report of Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES). This meeting was presided over by administrator Banwari Lal Purohit.
UMTA is directed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. That the proposals of the concerned professionals and stakeholders be taken forward.
Following are some of the corridors identified in this metro project.

Route: Sector 28, New Chandigarh to Sultanpur (34 km)

Routes: From Sukhna Lake (41.20 km) via ISBT Zirakpur, ISBT Mohali and Chandigarh Airport.

Route: (13.30 km) Anaj Bazaar Chowk (Sector-39) to Transport Light Chowk (Sector-26)
After planning, a route of 91 km has been earmarked for the first phase. Which will include Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. This campaign involves laying of approximately 154.5 km long Mass Rapid Transit network in two phases.
This project will accelerate the pace of economic growth and development of the area and will also ease transportation. Keeping in mind the interests of the public, a list of next steps is being prepared quickly.
