MTHL Bridge: PM Modi will inaugurate the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link in Mumbai tomorrow (Friday). It has been named Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. It is the longest sea bridge in the country at 21.8 km long. This bridge connects Nhava Sheva area of Navi Mumbai with Mumbai City. The bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2016. About Rs 17,840 crore has been spent in its preparation. The road on this bridge will run in six lanes.

16.5 km over the bridge

The length of the bridge (Mumbai News) is about 16.5 km over the sea. And on land it is about 5.5 km. With the inauguration of the bridge, traffic in Mumbai will improve significantly. Once this starts, the distance between Navi Mumbai and South Mumbai will be reduced by 20 minutes. At present, it takes two hours for Mumbaikars to travel this route. This bridge will also play an important role in the economic development of Mumbai. This will provide easy access to the University of Raigarh.

The bridge, which can run at a speed of 100 km per hour, has been built by Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link Corporation (MTHL) will operate and maintain the bridge. While traveling by MTHL, you will have to pay a toll of Rs 250 for a one-way journey. Round trip is Rs 375. The government said the toll would be reviewed after a year. The toll on Bandra-Worli Sea Link is Rs 85. And round trip is Rs 127. Driving motorcycles, autos and tractors will be prohibited on MTHL. 177,903 tonnes of steel and 504,253 tonnes of cement have been used in its construction.
