SBI News : State Bank of India, India's largest banking institution, has introduced mobile handheld devices to provide its customers the convenience of cash withdrawal and deposit from the comfort of their homes.

The main objective of this initiative of SBI is to take the banking system of SBI to the doorstep of the public. And to connect more and more customers with the bank.

These five major banking services are being provided

The mobile handheld device will be helpful in not only cash deposits and withdrawals but also money transfers, mini statements to know the bank account balance etc.

According to Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI, initially five core banking services will be made available and provided under this new initiative

1. Withdrawal
2. Deposit
3. Money Transfer
4. To know the money in the bank account (Balance Check)
5. Account of Transactions (Mini Statement)

They will get special benefit

According to the Chairman of SBI, the objective of introducing this tool is to further strengthen financial inclusion and provide essential banking services to the common citizen.

He said that this initiative will make the Customer Service Center (CSP) more flexible. The execution of agents' work will speed up.

It will also provide special benefits to those customers who face health problems. This will help in reaching out to the handicapped and disabled. Senior citizens will also benefit from this.

There will be further expansion in service

According to the Chairman of SBI, these are the five services that SBI is going to provide through handheld devices. They account for more than 75 percent of the total transactions taking place on the bank's CSP.

He said that in future, banking services will be further expanded through handheld devices. For this, the bank is also planning to start enrollment, account opening and card-based services under social security schemes.
