Laying of reinforced concrete (RC) track bed for the first time for MAHSR corridor track system in Japanese Shinkansen has started in Surat. J-Slab ballastless track system has been used for the first time in the country. The first mountain tunnel, 350 meters long and 12.6 meters in diameter, was built in Valsad, Gujarat near Jaroli village in just 10 months. Also, the first 70 meter long steel bridge weighing 673 metric tons has been built on NH 53 in Surat, Gujarat. Construction of 16 out of 28 such bridges is going on on the entire route.

National High Speed Rail Corporation is building India's first high speed rail line, 508 km long, between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The 352 km line will pass through nine districts of Gujarat and three districts of Maharashtra. The project is 156 km in Maharashtra. And Nagar Haveli is 4 km. Project work has started in all these eight districts. Twelve stations will be built in this corridor. The design of the bullet train will be 350 km/h and its speed will be 320 km/h. Bullet train will reach Ahmedabad from Mumbai in two hours.
