YuvaPatrkaar : Various domestic and foreign companies are taking initiatives to expand the business of electric two-wheelers in the Indian market. Honda Global has recently confirmed that it is going to launch an electric bike soon. The company said that next year an affordable electric motorcycle with a capacity of 110 to 125 cc will be launched in India. For this, Honda can invest $3.4 billion by 2030. Additionally, the company aims to sell 4 million electric motorbikes in the international market during the same period.

The electric motorcycle will be manufactured at Honda's factory in India. According to reports, it will have a swappable battery. After India, this model will be launched in Japan and Europe as well as ASEAN countries. Earlier this year, Honda announced that it will launch 110-125 cc electric two-wheelers in India.

In this context, Daiki Mihara, Executive Officer of Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Development Unit of Honda Motor Company, said, “Next year i.e. in 2024, we will launch an electric motorcycle with swappable battery. Later it will be launched in Japan, Europe and ASEAN countries.

These eco-friendly electric bike models will be manufactured in the company's existing factories. However, in 2027, Honda will build a separate factory to produce two-wheeler electric vehicles. To keep the price low, some important components of the two-wheeler will be manufactured there. About 10 lakh e-bike models will be manufactured every year in the new plant. Each plant will require an investment of approximately 50 billion yen. Which will be Rs 2,800 crore in Indian currency.

Honda has set a target of selling 40 lakh e-motorcycles by 2030. They also plan to make 600-700 cc e-bikes. Honda plans to launch 30 new electric motorcycles by 2024. The company is going to offer different latest technologies including latest connectivity, OTA updates with cutting-edge technology.
